Four optional supplemental policies

Each policy is separate and optional. You may select one, combine several, or omit a policy, subject to availability and eligibility. Intensive Care (ICU) is its own policy and is not automatically included in the others.

What these policies are, and are notThese are supplemental, limited-benefit policies. They are not major medical insurance and are not a replacement for health insurance or workers' compensation. Benefits are paid only for qualifying events under the policy terms, and proof of loss is required.
  • Cancer

Cash benefits for covered cancer-related events and treatments as defined in the policy, subject to its limits, exclusions, and eligibility rules.

  • Heart Disease, Heart Attack and Stroke

Cash benefits for covered heart disease, heart attack, and stroke events as defined in the policy. A qualifying event and proof of loss are required.

  • Accident

Cash benefits for covered accidental injuries as defined in the policy. Exclusions apply. In the Texas sample accident form (A8), exclusions include some aviation-related activity, such as serving as aircraft crew.

  • Intensive Care (ICU)

Cash benefits when a covered hospital stay includes intensive care, as defined in the policy. This is a separate, optional policy.

Coverage that fits your household

Choose a benefit level and household coverage type—Individual, Single Parent, Couple, or Family—for each policy. You can mix and match coverage types and benefit levels to fit your household and budget.

For example, you might choose Individual Heart Disease, Heart Attack and Stroke coverage alongside Family Accident coverage. I'll help you explore your options, subject to availability and eligibility.

Cash value and maturity benefits

  • Issue age 55 or younger: 100% maturity benefit at 25 years or the policy anniversary after age 65, whichever comes first, less Claims Incurred.
  • Issue age 56 or older: Survivor benefits, less Claims Incurred, up to the amount stated in the policy.

Benefits depend on the applicable policy terms. Let's discuss how these benefits apply to your coverage.

Firefighter & EMS health

The work carries risks. Your household deserves a conversation.

Research helps explain why health and financial planning matter for Fire & Rescue families. These findings describe particular study populations, not a prediction of your individual risk.

Cancer diagnoses than expected

In a study of nearly 30,000 career firefighters from Chicago, Philadelphia, and San Francisco employed between 1950 and 2009, researchers found 9% more cancer diagnoses than expected using U.S. population rates.

24%

Of ED-treated occupational injuries were sprains or strains
